What are you currently reading?

I have two books on the go at the moment. I never used to read more than one book at a time, but I often find it easier to read on my Kindle on the train and my physical books at home. I’m currently reading The Silver Linings Playbook on my Kindle. I loved the film and at the moment I like the book, but I’m not sure it’s going to out-do the film for me. I have FINALLY gotten around to opening my copy of Six of Crows. I’ve only read about 100 pages of it but I am really enjoying it so far. I know I’m going to enjoy the rest of this one! Just wish I had more time so I could devour it all in one go! (P.S. How BEAUTIFUL is the Crooked Kingdom cover?!)

What did you recently finish reading?

I had a week off work last week so I got through quite a few books, including one off my arc-list. I relived my childhood with some Malory Towers stories by Enid Blyton. I enjoyed reading Animal Farm by George Orwell, I thought it was a clever take on the human condition. I was, however, slightly disappointed by The Girl You Lost. The concept was so promising and there were some good aspects, but I really wanted more emotion in the characters. On the other hand, I completely fell in LOVE with The Nightingale. WHAT a book! I was sobbing at the end of it and just fell absolutely in love with Vianne and Isabelle. If you haven’t read it then I would definitely recommend that you do! Outstanding!

What do you think you’ll read next?

Last week I was trying to decide whether to read Six of Crows or The Night Circus, so I think The Night Circus will be up next. Alongside some of my arcs, I really need to reduce the list before I request more!

The Night Circus

What have you been reading this week? Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned? What do you recommend I read next?

  2. I’ve seen the Silver Linings Playbook movie. Hopefully the book is good too. 🙂
Yay! So excited we’re both reading Six of Crows. I’m enjoying it a lot so far too. And yes! Crooked Kingdom cover is beautiful!
Still trying to get my hands on the Malory Towers books. I’ll probably read The Night Circus kind of soon. Depends on when Ice Like Fire comes in.

    • I think I’ll read The Night Circus in March, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I can’t wait for this weekend to arrive so I can devour Six of Crows, I haven’t had nearly as much reading time as I would have liked this week. It’s so good though so far! I’ve nearly finished Silver Linings Playbook. It’s a good read but I think the film is better purely because of the outstanding performances by the cast. They really did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life on the screen!

  3. Oooh I loved the Night Circus, I hope you do too.

Also I hadn’t heard of the Nightingale, looked it up on Goodreads–wow, what a high rating it has! How do you like the historical fiction genre in general? And how do you think this one compares to the rest of the genre?

  4. ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ is very different in book form than it is as a film. The book is a lot darker and I read it first and liked it more because of that. It will be interesting to see what you think doing it in reverse. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

  5. I read The Silver Linings Playbook not that long ago because I loved the film and it’s one of the rare cases where I think the film’s better. The betting in the film is tied into the story well and Robert De Niro’s character is given more to do. I just think the film is more balanced.
Six of Crows is brilliant. I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

Thanks for visiting my WWW (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/02/24/www-wednesday-24th-february-2016/) earlier and happy reading!

  6. So many great books this week! I absolutely loved Six Of Crows and The Night Circus has such beautiful descriptions! Animal Farm is a really interesting read as well… And I have been wanting to get a copy of The Silver Linings Playbook ever since I finished Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock. The Nightingale sounds so good as well! 😀

    • It is such a great read, I would highly recommend it. I don’t read a huge amount of historical fiction but this has easily become a favourite of mine. It’s definitely a tear jerker but only because the gorgeous writing makes us care so much for the characters. Thanks for visiting! 🙂
