WWW Wednesday: 3rd August 2016

Thanks to the lovely Sam who hosts this meme at Taking On A World of Words. This is a weekly meme where I answer the three W’s of reading: What are you currently reading? What have you just finished reading? What will you read next? (WOOPS! I’ve not done one of these since April because my life all of a sudden got too busy but this will set me back on track!)

What are you currently reading?

At the moment I am just over halfway through Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I’m not really sure if I’m going to enjoy this story overall. It’s pleasant enough but there’s just something about it that isn’t quite drawing me in. Maybe it’s the silly spells, maybe it’s the tenuous links to Harry Potter and the fanfiction style (I read Fangirl so I understand this) but something isn’t quite clicking with me at the moment.

Carry On

What did you recently finish reading?

I most recently finished reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I suspect this will appear on many lists today and I’ve seen a really mixed bag of thoughts on it. Personally I really loved it. It’s not as good as the original 7 books, but it’s a play and it’s set in the future, so obviously our main characters would have changed a bit. I really loved being back in their world and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to grab myself some tickets to see the play tomorrow! Check out my review on Goodreads.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Harry Potter, #8)

What do you think you’ll read next?

Next up for me will be something from the following books. I really, really need to read my Nevernight arc. I’ve been so excited about it but for some reason haven’t picked it up yet! Then it will be on to Fairest so that I can finally begin the monstrous Winter.

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)  Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5)  Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)

What have you been reading this week?

Do you have any thoughts on the books I’ve mentioned?

Feel free to follow me on Twitter and Goodreads. Comments are always warmly welcome.

  2. I’m so jealous you’re close enough to see the play. I wish I could afford a trip across the ocean to read it. It took me a bit to get into Carry On but I ended up enjoying it a lot. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

    • I’ve enjoyed other books she wrote but not sure about this one so far. Although I’ve just been reassured that it’s about to get much better so I may change my mind yet!

Ah so happy you have tickets! I thought about it last year but couldn’t afford them at the time so my brother and I have plans to get them tomorrow hopefully!

Will visit your WWW when I get to my laptop! 🙂

  3. Some brilliant books! 🙂
I wish I lived near enough to London to be able to go and see The Cursed Child. If the run gets extended forever (which I guess it will), eventually I’ll make it. I think I’d rather see it than read it though.
If you’re only at 50% with Carry On, I’m happy to tell you it’s all about to pick up 🙂 (well, at least one major plot threat is… the bits where she goes off to the girls’ POV are a bit annoying).

I enjoyed Winter very much (although it’s such a monster!) and Nevernight too (although it seems to be dividing readers). I hope you like the both 🙂

    • Ah thanks Claire! I’ll definitely persevere with Carry On, I’m glad to hear it’s going to pick up! Also happy to hear some of the other books are positively received!

Yeah I’m not near to London at all as I live in Cardiff but I just have to see the play! Hoping I’ll get tickets tomorrow!

Will visit your WWW when I get to my laptop! 🙂
